SAC ACCA Camp 2008

oh yeaaa it's SAC ACCA Camp 2008!! hahaha..went for last year's one too..but this year was just totally awesome! the camp was held from 30th Aug to 1st Sept in Kem Alim Pulapes Banting with the theme 'Pushing the Limits' organized by Sunway ACCA Club(SAC) and sponsored by KPMG and BDO Binder! OC/Camp Commandant was Choon Onn,big ups to him and the committee for an awesome job!

Day 1

so..we all gathered at college around 7am onwards and waited around till abt 8 smtn then we took off to our camp site...abt 77 participants excluding the committee so we had 2 buses...

arrived there,went to the hall..had a lil briefing session abt the rules and regulations then we went to our dorms to put our stuff n headed back to the hall...

went to our groups..all the groups were actually names of ancient empires which was real cool,so there were 8 groups- German,Sparta,Egypt,Persia,India,Rome,China(my group!) and Japan.

we were given some time to come up with a group cheer and design our flag(each group was given a white cloth)! big ups to my team mates which is Jon Ming(leader),David,Kent,Alfred,Logen,Wei Ling,Rayven,Pegg Ghee and Shin Yee,you guys are the bomb!and...for the 1st time EVER im so proud to be in the group im assigned to in a camp,ok i know this sounds harsh but yea sorry la,all my other camp experience with my group weren't that fun or good so yeala...btw,Jon Ming my group leader,is the one who designed the camp t-shirts which was really nice so max respect to him yo..

anyway...so we designed our flag and decided to put the word '勇' which means 'brave/courage' in chinese(for you bananas xp) right in the middle,and drew some cloud thingi around it,which was david's idea,turned out real nice!

and our group cheer was,

China 加油(jia you),
China go!
We love China,
China yo!

and after the cheer,Logen being the only indian in our group( no racism crap la k) would point to the crowd and say," 要你好看！" haha! that was Wei Ling's idea lol..

we were each given a jacobs biscuit in a lil sealed plastic bag as our "life line"to keep till the end of the camp,it would be counted as points at the end of the camp if it's still intact,sadly mine broke at the 2nd day hahahaha...

each group was also given a pink balloon as our "baby" to keep till the end of the camp too and if it bursts then the group would be given an egg as a "replacement" to keep till the end of the camp,and yes,it's also counted as points and our group managed to keep our balloon till the 3rd day so we got 5 points for that!credits mainly to Logen our keeper who took good care of it! :D

btw,each group was given a red,yellow and blue cloth.the red was for the leader(Jon Ming),the yellow for the treasurer(Wei Ling) to keep our fake money for the auction and the blue for the keeper(Logen) to take care of our group flag and balloon.

all the groups were suppose to perform a sketch for 'talent night' which was on the 2nd night of the camp with the theme 'movies with a twist' which i find real cool and interesting cos then the committee don't really hv to crack their heads thinking what all the groups should do for their sketch and we as the participants would not hv too much headache as we sort of hv a rough idea in our minds and we can put a lot of creativity into it which makes it so much more fun! so our group leaders draw lots,and we were suppose to perform 'Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs',the twist? ADVERTISEMENT. hahahahaha!!

and all of the groups were also suppose to be build a monument representing their empire and it will be judged on the last day of the camp.so obviously my group chose to build the Great Wall lol...

the interesting part of all these was that the committee had AUCTIONS for us to get the items we need for our sketch and monument building and we were given fake money to buy it,each group was given RM1000,cun right? lol... so our group managed to get some cowboy hats for the dwarfs,some eggtrays(one of it used as the mirror for the evil queen) and cardboards...

and we also played the game,'guardian angel',which was most probably taken from cf/church camps,if u've been to one,then u would definitely know abt this game.it's a game where everyone is a guardian angel and u would have a mortal assigned to u whom ur suppose to take care of during the whole course of the camp,of course in discreet and indirectly "watching over and taking care" la lol...in cf camps,we usually give them stuff like food and sweets but in this camp,the committee had a lil place at the corner of the hall set up with cups with each participant's(including the committee except Hui Leng,the one whose in charge of the game) name on it so u can just drop a lil msg in their cup. and of course if everyone has a mortal,everyone would also hv a guardian angel 'guarding' them which u wouldn't know who till the end of the camp when it's time to reveal,so yea....

so during the time of discussion on our group cheer and design of our group flag,Hui Leng was calling out each participant to tell them whose their mortal(but in this camp,they call it 'cucu', lol?) and my mortal/cucu was Khai Sean from group Sparta.

after abt almost 2 hrs when every group was done presenting their flag and group cheer,we then proceed to the cafeteria to hv our lunch...our meals were really simple throughout the whole camp,mainly just 3 dishes(one vege,one meat and egg) sometimes just 2 dishes..anyway..the food was ok la...

after getting some 'bonding' time with my group,chatting over lunch,cos we were suppose to sit in our groups also during meal times,we went back to the hall for a cp of games,n during one of the games,Shen(German's group leader) and i were the "losers" so we kena la punishment,but 1st up we had to intro ourselves so during that intro i also mentioned that my hobby was beatbox and one of the committees(i think it was sofie,not sure) suggested that i beatbox as my punishment while Shen would dance to my beatbox hahahahhahaa....well it turned out real good and i was really happy cos the mic was suprisingly AWESOME hahahah..cos it's only a really simple sound system...but still..i would like to think i sounded great but nah,the mic helped A WHOLE LOT of course hahahaha....credits to Shen for being so sporting also haha it was a really fun collab there hahaha..and also a big thx to everyone who clapped along and enjoyed it,i really appreciate it...XD

after the games we went to the cafeteria again for tea time and had a lil rest before we then proceed to the next game,'Treasure Hunt'. Rebecca was in charge of this game and explained that it's gonna be like counter strike with the concept of terrorist and counter terrorist and my group was terrorist,so we were given a picture that was cut into half which was suppose to be the item that we're suppose to "kidnap"...

we had to get alphabets from diff places in the camp and unscramble them to reveal the location of the item we were suppose to "kidnap" which we found out was a green apple,and the unscrambled words was 'Blue Tong Kayak Lake' or smtn like dat la lol...

and we also had 4 stations to complete tasks,2 in the hall and 2 outdoor...my group had to do the outdoor ones 1st...and at our 1st station,all 10 of us had to stand in a line and pass water balloons from one bucket to the another bucket at the other end,wasn't that easy,i kena wet by abt 4 to 5 water balloons that burst when i couldn't manage to catch it hahaha...

the 2nd station was also outside and 2 out of 10 of us which was david and jon ming had to pick 10 sweets out of a box full of flour with their mouths, while the remaining 8 of us had to walk from one end to the other while all our legs tied to each other with rafia strings,was really good teamwork coordinated by wei ling,good job guys! and also to david n jon ming who sacrificed their faces lol...

3rd station was back in the hall on the mini stage where we had to pass rubber bands with only toothpicks in our mouths and carry a long joint line of straws with shoulders and walk from one end to the other...and all these was done while aruna kept disturbing us...UGH lol...

4th station was also in the hall where our whole group was suppose to down-kan 2 disgusting cups of stufffff...one of was some maggi thingi with i dunno wat 'flavouring' and another a blended juice of celery,red pepper,chilli and wat not...we all shared it thou so it wasn't thattt bad,i took a lil of the juice thingi which was kinda thick,was real bad lol...at least the committee was nice enough to hv some water ready for us to drink after we ate those yucky stuff..

after the treasure hunt we then had our dinner and lil break before we went back to the hall again to discuss abt our sketch and monument with our group...

after that we tukar baju to get ready for our night jungle trekking which was a 1st time for me jungle trekking AT NIGHT....the only jungle trekking i've been in camps were all during the day time...yea im a noob la lol...

the jungle trekking was definitely challenging i would say,partially cos it was already at night so we were all kinda tired out and also that the tracks were kinda steep but thankfully not that muddy or wet so it was all cool...the best part was that when we reached the peak which was near the light house,we budget our time ngam ngam that we arrived there in time to countdown,and we did!!

all of us managed to catch some fireworks and we sang the national anthem also hahaha...was a really awesome experience...merdeka in the woods...awesome!while everyone else is in lagoon,klcc,1u etc counting down n partying,we are in the woods shining our lil torch lights following the ranger dude..lol..but the 2 hrs trekking in the dark was definitely worth it when we reached the peak at 12am.

i really thank God for this,i know it sounds so emo,but to me,this was definitely one of the best highlights ever in camp experience!im sure everyone else enjoyed that moment too! one of the rangers even brought a BIG jalur gemilang while trekking so of course was proudly 'waving' it when we sang 'Negaraku' at the bukit...

after that lil merdeka moment,we then made our back la but using another path of course which was much easier cos it was normal tar road instead of the jungle...haha...since it was a kinda long journey LOL so we had a lil break in between where we had some light supper which the committee and kem ranger ppl brought it by car...

after the lil makan we then went back la...reached the camp site at abt 1am smtn...went back to the dorms and shower and all...i tried to sleep but sadly couldn't cos my cough was getting worst so i had to get some strepsils from the committee so thx to jo lyn who helped me out there...

Day 2

can't even really rmb the details of the timing lol...but anyway..woke up at abt 7am smtn...changed baju n all before heading to the hall to gather n do some warm up...

warm up session was led by Gee Hou...was good...felt better after that lol...then we went on and hv our breakfast which was mihun and fried egg...

after breakfast...we were getting ready to do the obstacle course and repelling...for those who are a lil blur,repelling is also known as abseiling but with a wall..lol..anyway.. my group(China),Japan,Egypt and Persia were the 4 groups which were suppose to do the obstacle course first before heading on to repelling while the other 4 groups did repelling first..

the obstacle course was not too bad...not all that challenging thou..my partner was david,cos we had to go thru it 2 by 2...the only i was stuck with a lil was the wall but anyway thx to david for helping me and kent for motivating me haha...and also my group who was cheering on...the 'tarzan' swinging rope over a lil pond and monkey bars was surprisingly easy so that was GOOD...hahaha...other than that it was ok la..xp

the repelling was a 1st time experience and it was FUN wei!! haha..i think confirm i conquer my fear of heights ever since i started riding roller coasters since f4(yea im a noob,again)and cable riding in koh samui last year...so i wasn't scared doing the repelling but instead enjoying it so much lol!

after repelling we went back to the hall and rest a lil before we had lunch...after lunch..went back to the hall again for 'light and easy' which we found out was that we were suppose to take a nap in the hall LOL...to recharge our energy n all so ok la..manage to sleep a lil...

after the nap it was tea time...just some curry puff and some other kuih thingi...i didn't eat thou..wasn't hungry...after that we tukar baju to get ready for our next activity which was gonna be air raid and kayakking...

my group(China),Japan,Sparta and German were the groups who were suppose to do the air raid first...we're all wondering what's air raid too before this LOL...anyway,it's actually requiring each member of ur group to hold an egg while doing the course thingi which is:

1)goin round the chair 10 times with ur head down
2)running a zig zag cross the water bottles on the ground with the committees throwing water and flour at u
3)picking up 2 tennis balls in the mud
4)commando crawl in the mud with the committees throwing buckets of water and flour again at u

yea..so we got really dirty after that...well good thing was i still manage to keep the egg intact when i finished it hahahha...

after that we went and did a real quick wash up before we went kayakking,the lake was already dirty so yea,doesn't matter la even though we're dirty n we go in the lake hahaha....

my partner was again,david, in kayakking,since theres 2 seats per kayak...lol..since david had experience kayakking in NS and my only experience kayakking was a few yrs ago in eagle ranch which i can't really rmb how to kayak again lol...so credits to david for giving me pointers in kayakking,was real fun splashing water at our team mates and 'terbalik-kan' our kayak when time was up and we were paddling back hahahahhaha....in the end we just swam back but it was just a short distance la nvm haha...

after that we went and shower and all and head on to the field for our barbeque night...committees and the kem jurulatih ppl were helping out barbequing...sadly there was not really enough food thou but anyway..there was sausages,fried nugget bola bola,corn,potatoes,marshmallow,prawn,chicken wings,sotong ball,chicken,fish,garlic bread etc...

aruna was helping out giving out the fried rice thingi so that was cool...cos hungry and tired la waiting for the food to barbeque lol..

after makan,we all head on to the hall to just hv our final touch up on our sketch and bermula-lah talent night yang dinanti-nantikan...

lazy to elaborate too much on this lol...but overall,imo,german and egypt did an awesome job with their sketch...they really planned it out well according to their theme and added a lot of humour n creativity in it...

german's sketch was 'ju-on twist to comedy' and egypt's sketch was 'transformers twist to musical'....big ups to christopher and manoj from german and han,patrick and siang from egypt,u guys were cun tet wei...


our group's sketch was as i stated earlier,'snow white and the 7 dwarfs twist to advertisement'...so let me intro the cast 1st before we move on to our story line...fyi,there weren't enough actors/actress so some of us played multiple roles...we were the 3rd group to present our sketch..

hopefully i can get a video of it if the committee recorded it..

now on to the storyline...a real brief one..the narrator's lines are with david so yea..

Scene 1
the 7 dwarfs were messing around in their lab making some whitening fair cream for snow white...with all the clanging and banging of the chemcical test tubes(Km Km Km) , when suddenly smtn exploded (BOOM~~)...one of the dwarfs was badly injured and had to be rushed to the hospital...(sirens~~~)

Scene 2
the king's queen had just passed away and he's mourning for her death...then one of the ppl who attended the funeral passes an Eye-Mo to the king...he drops a few drops of eye mo into his eyes(water drop sound~~) and advertises eye mo,"take eye mo,for better tears" and then chooses one of the girls in the funeral(the evil queen) to be his new wife

Scene 3
little did the king know that his new wife,the evil queen,had a secret,which is her mystical and mysterious mirror on the wall.and everyday lah she will ask the mirror on the wall whose the fairest among all and of course the mirror will answer that the evil queen is the fairest among all....UNTILL one day,10 yrs later...the mirror answered that SNOW WHITE is the one whose the fairest among all...the evil queen went berserk and ordered that snow white to be brought to her immediately...

Scene 4
the hunter brings snow white to the queen and the queen punishes her by making her stay under the sun for 12 hrs for 2 mths...while snow white was happily 'sunbathing'...the hunter brings a Yeo's chrysentenum tea for snow white and opens the cap with his teeth...while snow white drinks it and then advertise/promotes it,"Yeo's,natural and cooling"... hahaha...this scene received the loudest applause from the crowd hahahaha...

Scene 5
the evil queen is pissed that snow white is still as fair as ever even though shes been under the sun for 2 mths lol...so the evil queen asked snow white for her secret....and snow white says,"my secret is...."

david and me goes up on stage and the rest of the dwarfs comes back dancing around snow white....

i beatboxed while david sang this(in the 'mary had a little lamb' tune)

u gotta buy this fair-y cream,
fairy cream,fairy cream,
u gotta buy this fair-y cream,
it's ur biggest dream
(repeats)

then kent repeats the last line with his awesome singer's voice...fuish...then...snow white comes to the front and says," Fairy cream,Snow white's secret"

hahahha...that was really fun stuff man....sadly we didn't win..but it was all good thou...

when talent night ended,it was real late adi abt 1am or smtn like dat so all of us went back to our dorms to get some shut eye...

Day 3

the day started real early at abt 3am smtn when suddenly the committee just charged in our dorms and turned on the lights and screaming for all of us to get up...so obviously all of us were like dumbstruck and stunned for a moment...and the committee told us to go gather at the cafeteria...

everyone was still in a blur mode in the cafeteria...then rebecca started to explain and tell us that the reason we were there was cos we were gonna do operasi burung hantu....

well since i did operasi burung hantu before in last year's camp...i wasn't too scared abt it lol...so yea got thru it...then we were told to go back to the hall...then sudd the committee told us to make sure that all our team mates were present when every group sudd realised that all our group leaders were missing! lol..so the committee revealed and told us that they kidnapped our leaders and we were given a simple clue to the location where they're hidden...

btw it was already 4am smtn..so yea..we were tired...anyway...so terpaksa we all had to cari our leader...our clue was pretty simple,it went smtn like this,"Would u go thru all obstacles to find ur leader?",so we were pretty sure it was the obstacle course area and yeap we were right and we managed to rescue our leader haha...so then AGAIN,we went back to our dorms to get some sleep...since of this casualty,the committee decided to let us sleep till 9am plus...

i woke up at abt 8.30am...got ready and all and went to the hall to fix up our monument...then we went for breakfast when everyone was up...

after breakfast..we went back to the hall and played our last game of the camp...it was seperated into 2 parts...

1st..every group was given a sheet of paper of 30 questions to answer...all general knowledge type of questions except for 3 algebra questions,just some quadratic equations la...which i managed to help my group solve which was good...we were given 30 mins to answer all of it..

2nd was that we were suppose to find sweets around the camp site...mostly at the grass-y areas...i managed to find some..which was good..and i guess this game really boost my group's points up...

after that last game...we went for lunch and packed our bags and went back to the hall for the judgement of our monument buildings and closing and all...

im sure every group put in a lot of effort and hardwork in their monument including my group and all of us are extremely proud of it!! and we got 1st place for our monument building!!! :D

from what i can remember...the monument building of every group...

German - they didn't wanna do the berlin wall cos of the history of it of violence so they did a mix of all the cool stuff of Germany which is the cars and all

Sparta- Trojan Horse

Egypt - Pyramid with some mummies haha

India - Taj Mahal

Persia - Hanging Garden of Babylon

Rome - Colloseum

China - the Great Wall of China

Japan - Tokyo Tower


yeap...so the overall results of the accumulated points of all the groups was....

1st place: Sparta
2nd place: China!!
3rd place: Egypt

YAY!! my group,China got 2nd place! and we got a hamper..was really happy wei...definitely the game on the 3rd day of the camp and the monument building boosted our points till 2nd place wei..so yeap...was really happy...1st time in my camp experience that my group ever managed to get top 3...yea im a noob AGAIN...

so after prize giving session...it was time to reveal whose our guardian angel...so hui leng called out all the girls name and we formed a line,while after that,the guys were to find their mortal/cucu and stand in front of them haha...so my guardian angel was Irman from group Egypt, and it became like a zig zag thing cos my guardian angel is in front of me while my mortal/cucu is on my guardian angel's left hand side,so yea...it was a real cool system Hui Leng worked out...props to her...

after that...we had a big group photo session with all campers and committees in it..and individual group photos...

then we went back to our dorms to get our bags and go to our buses and headed back to college...

arrived back in college around 5pm smtn...opened our hamper and shared the stuff...we opened the sparkling juice bottle and all of us shared it...wow haha..really victory drink man...felt so goodddd...hahaha...

anyway,all the groups also received a hamper which was good even though the winners got a bigger one thou...at least it's still smtn...

END OF CAMP

got back home...was dead tired...food and sleep deprived haha...anyway..heres my review of the camp...it was definitely one of my most awesome camp experience...and it definitely fit the theme of 'pushing the limits' cos they gave us 2 big tasks to work out in just a cp of days which was the sketch and the monument building and mind u,all of us didn't know each other in the group at all before this...except that i knew david and shin yee before this but we weren't that close anyway...

and also that bcos of this challenging tasks,we were "forced" (lol,what a word), to bond together in order to get it done...so that was good...and i'll definitely continue my friendship with the ppl i met at camp esp my team mates...bcos these 2 tasks really pushes u to work as a group...rather than the other games where it's mostly going in 2 by 2 or 1 by 1 n accumulating points....

so yea...it was good overall...although of course there are some stuff that can be improved on..if u wanna know the real details,ask me la personally haha..and also i would wanna gv a shout out to the committee that y'all done a great job and this camp was definitely worth it!
